Women and Beauty have always been a Siamese twin; joined together from before the days of Cleopatra till now. We are ever on the look out for new potions and tips to solve one beauty issue (real and imaginary) or the other.
Everyday most women, including yours truly, apply so many products in our quest for ageless beauty. From hair products to soaps to creams to perfumes to deodorants to makeup to nail polish...the list goes on. Before I started my KISH (Keep It Simple & Healthy) beauty regimen, my dresser looked like a shelf in Sephora. My daily staples included;
- Cleanser for face
- Soap/Body wash
- Toner
- Moisturizer
- Sunscreen
- Body Lotion
- Deodorant/Anti-perspirant
- Perfume
- Makeup (Primer, Foundation, Powder, Mascara, Lipstick etc)
- Hair Leave-in Conditioner
- Oil Sheen Spray
- Hair Serum
These are the different products i used to pile onto my body on a daily basis. As i now know, most of these products contains dangerous and health jeopardizing chemicals. Parabens, for example, which are designed to preserve the shelf-life of your cosmetics, are one of the most widely used preservatives in the world, and are found in shampoos, hair gels, shaving gels and body lotions. But their use is becoming increasingly controversial - a range of different studies has linked them to serious health problems including breast cancer, as well as fertility issues in men.

We cannot wait for our government or the cosmetic companies to protect us, the responsibility is upon us individually to get serious about our healthy. The need to be aware and take action cannot be over-emphasized. Before you buy a product, take time to read the label. A product touting Olive oil or Shea Butter on its advert is not automatically a safe choice. You will be shocked how many 'Natural' or 'Organic' products still contain this chemicals.
We all want to look our best, but remember....Health Over Beauty!
Till next post...remain beautiful,
