African Black Soap - Ose Dudu

One of the staple ingredient in my DIY beauty cabinet is Raw Black Soap.  I prefer using the black soap in liquid form because the solid melts pretty fast once you start using it. I make my liquid black soap  from the raw black soap by adding organic Honey, Lime, Charcoal, Aloe Vera etc depending on what i want to use it for, skin brightening, hair shampoo, skin detox etc.

Black soap has many names: African black soap, Anago soap or Alata Simena (Ghana) or Ose Dudu (Nigeria) and its mostly found in Western Africa. This soap is one of the healthiest soaps you can use on your skin due to the purity and simplicity of the ingredients. In Togo for example, most mothers use black soap to wash their newborn babies because it is pure, gentle and non-drying for their young, sensitive skin.

Raw traditional Black Soap is brownish-black in color and normally comes wrapped in banana leaf or brown paper. It has a delicate texture and a natural earthy smell. It is not oily or scented. Black Soap has been used for African hair and skin care for centuries.
