SKINCARE TIP: Treat Your Skin Gently

The skin goes through a lot of rigor daily; from bathing, to shaving to environmental pollution etc. To delay signs of aging there is need for us to be extra gentle with our skin. Below are some ways you can pamper your skin.

  • Limit bath time. Hot water and long showers or baths remove oils from your skin. Limit your bath or shower time, and use warm — rather than hot — water.
  • Avoid Over-Exfoliation.  Yes, exfoliation is good for the skin, but as we all know "too much of everything is bad". Over exfoliation can cause skin thinning which can trigger premature aging.

  • Avoid strong soaps. Strong soaps and detergents can strip oil from your skin. Instead, choose mild cleansers and SLS-free soaps.
  • Shave carefully. To protect and lubricate your skin, apply shaving cream, lotion or gel before shaving. For the closest shave, use a clean, sharp razor. Shave in the direction the hair grows, not against it.
  • Pat dry. After washing or bathing, gently pat or blot your skin dry with a towel so that some moisture remains on your skin. Vigorously rubbing your skin with towel is a bad skincare habit.
  • Moisturize daily. Every skin type needs to be moisturized. The notion that oily skin do not need to be moisturized is WRONG. Use a moisturizer that fits your skin type. For daily use, consider a moisturizer that contains SPF 30+.
Until next post...remain beautiful,

  1. Great post. Regarding the recommendation of SPF 30+ for moisturising, I have found it a difficult task to get good SPF 30+ face ream for oily skin, in Nigeria, that doesn't come out looking white and chalky on the face, typically causing my face to sweat, not allowing for even coverage when one uses foundation or compact powder.
