Natural Oils for Your Hair

They say "a woman's hair is her crowning glory" if so we need to nurture it. We go to great lengths in our quest for healthy and strong  hair and end up using different products. However there are lots of simple and mostly inexpensive ways to take care of our hair using natural oils.

No matter the kind of hair you have, Straight, Kinky, Relaxed, Texlaxed, your hair would benefit greatly from these oils;

Coconut Oil
Coconut oil is great for preventing dandruff, promoting hair growth, moisturizing, strengthening hair, thickening hair, and preventing damage.

Grapeseed Oil
Grapeseed Oil is a light non-greasy oil that is easily absorbed by the hair. It can also be used as a heat protectant as it resists temperatures up to 450° F.

Daboju of Naija Hair Can Grow. Yea...thats her natural relaxed hair.

Olive Oil (Extra Virgin Olive Oil)
Olive Oil which is referred to as the “godmother of hair oil,” is great for moisturizing, deep conditioning, improving hair strength, eliminating dandruff, and also has powerful antioxidants that can help fight hair loss.

Argan Oil
This North African wonder oil is great for the hair because it penetrates into the hair pores or shafts and enhances the elasticity of hair. Natural antioxidants present in Argan oil also strengthens the hair by repairing the damaged cellular membrane thereby aiding the growth process of the hair.

Avocado Oil
Avocado oil is particularly great for natural hair. It’s loaded with nutrients, amino acids, essential fatty acids, as well as vitamins A, B, D, and E. And it’s excellent for moisturizing, deep conditioning, improving hair strength, strengthening hair, and boosting shine.

Castor Oil
Castor oil thickens hair, promotes hair growth, prevents thinning, moisturizes, helps reduce split ends, helps to tame frizz, and prevents scalp infections.

Sweet Almond Oil
Sweet almond oil works great as a “sealant.” This means that it “locks-in” moisture. Sweet almond oil also nourishes hair, smooths hair cuticles to control shedding, promotes hair growth and thickness, prevents hair loss, and boosts shine.

To all these Carrier Oils you can add some hair benefiting Essential Oils for extra boost such as;

  • Peppermint EO: Promotes growth by stimulating circulation
  • Tea Tree EO: Treatment for dry scalp, dandruff and lice.
  • Lavender EO: Promotes growth. Soothes scalp. Help balance scalp oil
  • Ylang Ylang EO: Antiseptic. Dandruff treatment. Stimulates growth
  • Rosemary EO: Dandruff/itching scalp treatment
  • Sage EO: Clarifies scalp. Helps heal scalp problems such as psoriasis
