Natural Anti-Aging

Aging starts from the moment we are born, and throughout our lives the effects of aging are evident in our bodies. Up to about age 20, the most visually prominent effects of aging are in growth and development. Starting in our 20s, the effects of aging begin to be visible on the skin, reflecting by the loss of skin firmness and elasticity which occurs at different rates and different times in one individual as compared with another.

One of the healthiest things you can do for yourself is to work on accepting your aging process with dignity, grace and style while doing doing all you can to slow down the process using NATURAL products.

Commercial Anti aging and wrinkle creams are a dime a dozen, costs an arm and a leg and most do nada...zilch! Another down side is the fact that a vast majority of these wrinkle and anti aging products on the market today contain harmful chemicals that are detrimental to your health on the long run. Why use anti-aging creams that has the potential to give you diseases that will kill you before you actually age, right?

As a lady of a certain age (wink..wink!) anti-aging is major concern for me. I am constantly looking for natural ways to keep my skin looking smooth, soft and glowing while at the same time being realistic. My skin can never look the same way it did when i was 19. (except of course i want to go for some laser treatments or surgery...which I don't).

To prevent early signs of aging on your skin, incorporate Moisturizer ( I use a mix of Jojoba, Grapeseed, Coconut and Olive Oil) and Sunscreen early into your beauty regimen. I always encourage ladies in their 20s to start the habit of Moisturizing and Protecting because the way you treat your skin in your twenties will determine how your skin looks in your 30s.

The four basic steps for my Anti-Aging skin regimen in no particular order is;

1. Deep Cleansing (Oil Cleansing Method is my choice for deep pore cleansing)
2. Daily exfoliation (Papaya soap, Goat milk body wash, Brown sugar scrub)
2. Deep exfoliation (Glycolic or Lactic Acid treatments)
3. Anti-Oxidants (oral via Vitamins C/Beta Carotene and Topical via Vitamin E)

4. Deep Hydration (Different Natural Oils, I love Grapeseed and Coconut and for Butters, I love Shea/Cocoa)
5. Sunscreen (I've used all sorts from Neutrogena to Olay to Forever Living) ensure it contains zinc oxide and not PABA.

6. Facials (All sort of homemade masks; Hydrating, Pore Refining, Tightening etc)

Moisturizing Avocado Face Mask

This avocado face mask is  very good for its deep moisturizing benefits so much that I have made a point to use it very often for my facials.  It leaves your face so supple and baby-butt soft.

What You will need:
  1. 1 Avocado (remove the seed)
  2. Remove the flesh and add to blender.
  3.  Puree until it forms a nice thick paste; doing this will get all the oils from the avocado to rise to the surface. (If you have very dry skin you can add olive or jojoba oil...but for my oily skin i add nothing more)
  4. Apply to freshly cleansed face and leave on for 15 - 20 minutes
  5. Rinse off with warm water and Voila!

While all of these natural ingredients and techniques are excellent to add to your anti aging arsenal, other things that can age you quickly which you need to ditch include Stress, Bad Diet (especially sugar), Lack of Exercise, Smoking, Too much Alcohol consumption etc.

I believe if we take care of our body it would take care of us.

Until next post....remain beautiful,

Onome
