DIY TREATMENT: Cellulite

Let me first start by saying; "You are NOT the only woman with cellulite."

Cellulite is the greatest social leveler amongst women; Your body shape, size, racial background and celebrity status cannot guarantee you won't have it. 90 per cent of women will develop the dreaded 'skin dimples' some time after puberty.

Women are prone to cellulite because of the way our bodies store fat: in the subcutaneous layers that tend to bulge, suppress lymphatic drainage and eventually produce lumps that are visible from the outside.

Though natural, it's unlikely that most of us will ever learn to love our ‘orange peel’. Or stop trying to banish it. There are so many cellulite removal creams but most have two things going against them: They are too expensive and full of mystery ingredients (chemicals).

If you're looking for a natural, inexpensive way to get your body looking smoother and firmer then continue reading this post.

COFFEE SCRUB

Why It Works: Most pricey cellulite treatments use caffeine to promote circulation, deep-cleanse pores and act as a diuretic by removing excess water from your dermis. Caffeine absorbed into the skin helps tighten blood vessels, reducing the lumpy appearance of cellulite. This homemade version uses the same stimulator but with ingredients usually reserved for your kitchen.

You'll Need:
- 1 cup fresh-ground coffee
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 cup sea salt
- 1/2 cup coconut oil

Mix all the ingredients together and massage into thighs, butt and other areas prone to the cottage cheese effect for five minutes in a circular motion.
Rinse when finished. Repeat three to five times per week

DRY BODY BRUSHING

Why it Works: Sluggish lymphatic drainage contributes greatly to cellulite. Dry Body Brushing is a great way to force your lymph to drain out toxins and breakdown fat. Massaging the skin with the brush helps break up fat cells and distribute them more evenly under the skin, again leading to a smoother appearance.

You'll Need:

- A soft bristle body brush

On dry skin, start at your soles and work up your legs in short, vigorous strokes, then repeat on your arms and abdomen. Do not brush your face and be gentler on areas prone to capillary damage.

Body Wraps

Why It Works: Sea Salt draws out toxins from the skin while Black Clay literally races the blood flow that actually helps in getting rid of even ‘inveterate’ cellulite.Wrapping these ingredients on your skin with

You'll Need:

Sea Salt
1lb Sea Salt
250 ml of warm water
1 glass of Olive Oil

5 drops of any Citrus (Lemon, Grapefruit, Orange)essential oil

Black Clay
1lb Black Clay
250ml of warm water
2 tablespoons Olive Oil
5 drops of any citrus essential oil

How To: Before doing the Body Wrap first do a Dry Body Brush then take a hot shower. Apply any of the above body wrap mixture to your steamed and wet skin, and then wrap it with plastic food wrap. Then bundle up in your favorite fluffy bathrobe or large towel and wait for 15-20 minutes. Wash off the mixture and apply a cellulite cream to your skin. Repeat the procedure at least twice a week.

The best way to fight cellulite is to combine these do-it-yourself techniques with a recommended high-quality topical cream, regular exercise, dietary changes and a regular massage.

Until next post...remain beautiful,

Onome
